Dehradun mourns as son of Uttarakhand martyred on India-China border, body to reach home today

The mortal remains of Assistant Commandant Tikam Singh Negi, who was martyred on the India-China border while on a special mission for his unit, will reach Dehradun today. Negi, a resident of Selakui area of Dehradun district, was posted in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). The reason for his martyrdom is yet to be ascertained.

The news of Negi’s martyrdom on Monday has left the village of Rajawala, where his family resides, in a state of mourning. Administrative officials and a large number of villagers visited his residence to offer condolences to his family. Negi, 34, is the son of retired Subedar Rajendra Singh Negi.

According to reports, Negi was stationed in Ladakh on a special mission along the India-China border when news of his martyrdom came in. The reasons for his martyrdom are not yet known.

The mortal remains of Tikam Singh Negi will reach Dehradun on Tuesday at 12 noon. Negi had joined ITBP in 2011 and got married in 2018 to a woman from Badshahithor village in Chamba, Tehri. He leaves behind his father, wife, and three-year-old son.
