Uttarakhand AE exams cancelled : The cancellation of the assistant engineer recruitment exam in Uttarakhand is yet another example of the ongoing problem of irregularities in government recruitment exams. While it may provide an opportunity for the aspirants to demonstrate their skills and abilities again, it also highlights the need for greater oversight and accountability in the selection process.

Uttarakhand AE exams cancelled

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has cancelled last year’s recruitment exam for 170 posts of assistant engineers (AE) in Uttarakhand government departments. This decision was made after the police confirmed irregularities in the exam, which was held in April 2022 and had its results announced in November of the same year.

Following the cancellation, UPSC has announced that the exam will be held again on August 13,14, 16,17 and 18, 2023. The commission will also release instructions about the admit cards soon. This comes after the recent paper leak allegations in the patwari and junior engineer exams, leading the Uttarakhand police to conduct a thorough investigation of the AE exams. As a result, foul play was found and UPSC was informed.

This is not the first time recruitment exams have been cancelled due to irregularities in Uttarakhand. Earlier this year, the government cancelled the entrance test for 776 junior engineer (JE) posts in various government departments following similar allegations. The cancellation affected around 31,000 aspirants who will now have to retake the exams.

The cancellation of the AE exam has caused disappointment and frustration among the aspirants who had appeared for it last year. They are now forced to prepare for the exam again, causing an additional burden on them, especially those who have already invested significant time and resources into their preparations.

The cancellation of recruitment exams due to irregularities not only affects the aspirants but also raises questions about the integrity of the system. It highlights the urgent need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure a fair and transparent selection process.
