Haridwar BHEL : Haridwar district, located in the plains of Uttarakhand, has emerged as a major industrial hub of the state. Set up in the 1960s, BHEL Haridwar manufactures a wide range of power plant equipment like boilers, steam turbines, generators etc. Sprawling over 1500 acres, it is one of the largest integrated engineering facilities in India.

With state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities, the plant plays a crucial role in helping BHEL meet the power equipment needs of the country. BHEL Haridwar has been a catalyst for ancillary industrial development in the region. Its vendors and ancillary units provide additional employment opportunities.

Integrated Industrial Estate

As part of boosting industrialization in Uttarakhand, the State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand (SIDCUL) has developed an Integrated Industrial Estate (IIE) over 277 hectares in Haridwar.

The IIE offers world-class infrastructure including power, water, roads and common effluent treatment plant. It houses a diverse mix of industries from auto components, textiles, food processing, engineering units etc. Ranging from multinationals to SMEs, over 100 manufacturing units are operational inside the estate.

The IIE has been developed as a self-sustained habitat with commercial, institutional and residential areas. Social infrastructure like schools, healthcare facilities, retail outlets etc. allow people to reside within the estate.

In addition to the main IIE, industrial areas have also been developed at Bahadrabad and Landhaura in Haridwar district.
