Raja Brahmdeo’s war against the Champawat Rajas : A long time ago, there were two princes named Dhamdeo and Brahmdeo. They were from a place called Katyurgarh and were under the rule of the kings of Champawatgarh. The kings of Champawatgarh were not fair to the people, and so Dhamdeo and Brahmdeo decided to stop paying them tribute and declared their independence.
This made the kings of Champawatgarh, Thorchand and Bhagchand, very angry. They sent a letter to Dhamdeo and Brahmdeo asking them to either start paying tribute again or leave Katyurgarh. Dhamdeo ignored their letter and sent them a message with a box filled with small broken pieces of earthen pots and a pitcher filled with wasps, as a way to insult them. Thorchand and Bhagchand were not happy about this and sent another letter to Dhamdeo, asking him to give his daughter in marriage to Thorchand. If Dhamdeo refused, they would invade his land and destroy his fort.
Dhamdeo and Brahmdeo were furious about this letter. They said that the kings of Champawatgarh were not as important as them and should not ask for their daughter’s hand in marriage. They refused to pay any tribute or give their daughter to Thorchand. Instead, they challenged the kings of Champawatgarh to meet them at a place called Jawari Sera and fight against them.
Thorchand and Bhagchand accepted the challenge and brought a large army with them. The army was so big that it covered the whole valley of Jawari Sera and looked like a field of snow or guiral trees in full bloom. The enemy soldiers destroyed the paddy crops in Jawari Sera, and the women of Katyurgarh cried like the Meluri bird. This made the people of Katyurgarh very scared.
Dhamdeo and Brahmdeo put on their armor and took their swords to fight against the enemy army. They were led by Thorchand. Dhamdeo and Brahmdeo fought bravely and killed the entire enemy army. Thorchand was killed by Brahmdeo. After the battle, Dhamdeo and Brahmdeo returned to Katyurgarh as heroes. There was a big celebration in Katyurgarh, and Dhamdeo and Brahmdeo declared their independence. They ruled their land peacefully after that.
