Story of Goril
Story of Goril : Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, there were some brave and powerful princes who ruled over a place called Champawatgarh. The princes’ names were Samal Rai, Malu Rai, Alu Rai, and Jhalu Rai. Jhalu Rai was the last and most famous of these princes.
One day, Jhalu Rai went hunting in the jungle with his men. He was very thirsty, so he asked his men to find water for him. They found a special tank of water with two fountains – one made of gold and one made of silver. Near the water tank, there was a temple with a goddess inside. The goddess’s name was Kalindra. The men asked her for water, but she didn’t allow them to take it.
Jhalu Rai was very angry and decided to attack the temple. When he saw the goddess, Kalindra, he fell in love with her and took her home with him. He married her, and soon after, Kalindra became pregnant.
When it was time for Kalindra to give birth to her baby, Jhalu Rai hired a nurse to help her. But the seven other queens that Jhalu Rai had were jealous of Kalindra. They and the nurse tricked Kalindra by tying her up in a dark room and telling her that she couldn’t see her baby when it was born because it would be bad luck.
As Kalindra was about to give birth, she heard a voice from inside her tummy. It was her baby, who told her that he was a special child and wanted to be born through her left eye, just like the god Krishna was born through his mother Devaki’s right eye. And so, Kalindra’s baby was born from her left eye. His name was Goril.
Goril was a very special baby, with twenty arms and a wooden horse to ride on. When the seven jealous queens saw Goril, they put him in a golden casket and threw it into a river, hoping to get rid of him. But Goril called out to his father, Jhalu Rai, and the prince had the casket taken out of the river. When they opened it, they found a beautiful baby boy inside.
Jhalu Rai was very angry with his seven jealous queens and punished them for their wickedness. He then celebrated the birth of his son, Goril. When Jhalu Rai passed away, Goril became the ruler of Champawatgarh. He was a very kind and just king, just like the famous King Ram.
One day, a dove came to Goril crying because the cruel Dotial Princes had killed her baby birds. Goril was very sad and decided to punish the Dotials for their wickedness. He gathered a big army and attacked their kingdom, defeating them and bringing justice for the dove and her baby birds.
Goril ruled his kingdom with kindness and fairness, just like King Ram did in his kingdom. After Goril passed away, people built many temples in the Himalayas to honor him and remember his great deeds.
