Story of Panchu Thag : In a prosperous village called Bamora, a notorious highway robber named Panchu Thag terrorized the surrounding areas. He would rob and dishonor women from neighboring villages, as well as assault and rob travelers. In a nearby village called Kailadhukri, there lived a man named Narain Saun, whose wife was Rikhola. They had a son named Musa Saun, who was destined for greatness.

As Musa grew up, he heard about the atrocities of Panchu and vowed to put an end to his reign of terror. One day, Musa decided to redeem a gold bracelet that his father had pledged to Panchu but had not yet redeemed. Despite his mother’s warnings, Musa was determined to face Panchu.

Before leaving for Bamora, Musa showed off his incredible strength by breaking a one-yard-thick millstone with a single punch. Convinced of his son’s abilities, Rikhola gave Musa permission to go and fight Panchu. Musa dressed in gold bracelets and earrings, donned his armor, and set out with two men carrying his tiffin basket.

On the way to Bamora, Panchu encountered Musa and was impressed by his jewellery. He tried to intimidate Musa by hurling logs of wood at him, but Musa remained unfazed. Panchu then tried to trick Musa into giving him a gold mohar, but Musa saw through his scheme. Panchu, realizing that he could not deceive Musa, asked for food instead, claiming that he had not eaten in days. Musa shared his tiffin with Panchu.

As they continued their journey, Panchu and Musa engaged in a battle of wits, each trying to outsmart the other. During a steep climb, Panchu attempted to kill Musa with his club, but Musa was prepared with his dagger. They fought for seven days and seven nights, with neither gaining a clear advantage.

Finally, Panchu managed to pin Musa to the ground and sat on his chest. In a last-ditch effort, Musa thrust his dagger into Panchu’s chest from below, killing the robber. Upon searching Panchu’s body, Musa discovered four thousand rupees, which he brought back home.

Musa’s companions had fled during the fight and informed Rikhola and the villagers that both Panchu and Musa had been killed. The village mourned, but their grief turned to joy when Musa returned home victorious. The death of Panchu was celebrated with songs and stories that are still sung in the villages today.
