Story of Ranu Rawat and Supia Rawat

Story of Ranu Rawat and Supia Rawat : Once upon a time, there was a brave chieftain named Hinwa Rawat who lived in a place called Kulawalikot. He had a large piece of land called a jagir, which was given to him by the king of Srinagar. Hinwa had a strong and brave son named Bhinwa. They were both excellent warriors. Bhinwa had a wife named Mainawati.

In a nearby place called Doon, there was a tribe of people called Airwals who also followed the king of Srinagar. But they were not happy with the king, so they decided to rebel against him. The king sent a letter to Hinwa, asking him to go and make the Airwals stop fighting. Hinwa decided to go with his son, Bhinwa, to help him in this mission.

They faced many difficulties while traveling, but they finally reached the village where the Airwals lived. Hinwa and Bhinwa challenged the Airwals to fight them. A long and fierce battle began, and it lasted for nine days and nine nights. On the tenth night, both sides agreed to rest. While Hinwa was sleeping, some enemies sneaked into his tent and killed him. The next morning, the battle continued, and this time, Bhinwa fought very bravely. But sadly, he was also killed in the battle.

When the people of Kulawalikot heard about Hinwa and Bhinwa’s deaths, they were very sad. Mainawati, Bhinwa’s wife, was very brave and strong. She decided to take revenge for the deaths of her father-in-law and husband. She had a son named Ranu Rawat, who was 12 years old.

Mainawati told Ranu about his father and grandfather and asked him to go and fight against the Airwals to avenge their deaths. At first, Ranu was afraid, but his mother encouraged him and told him that he was brave like his ancestors. She even showed him that her milk was so strong that it could break through an iron plate.

Ranu decided to go on this mission. He had a cousin named Jhankru, who was supposed to help him in the battle. But Jhankru fell in love with Ranu’s wife, Bimla, and didn’t want to go. So, Ranu went alone, accompanied by his family bard, Champhu.

After facing many hardships, Ranu reached the Doon and challenged the Airwals to fight him. A huge battle started, and Ranu fought bravely, using his sword to defeat the enemies. Champhu sang songs to encourage Ranu during the fight.

When the battle was over, Ranu went to the Airwals’ village and killed everyone there. He found the heads of his father and grandfather, which the Airwals had buried, and took them home in a procession.

While returning home, Ranu saw Jhankru in a dream, sleeping with his wife, Bimla. Ranu was very angry and went back home quickly. Bimla had heard about Ranu’s arrival and hid Jhankru in a corn bin to protect him. When Ranu entered the room, he was furious and threatened to kill Bimla if she didn’t show him her lover.

Bimla lied to Ranu, saying that he had abandoned his first wife, Sushila, who was supposed to marry him even before he was born. She said that Sushila was now about to marry someone else and that Ranu should bring her back first. Ranu believed Bimla and decided to go and find Sushila.

Ranu went to the place where Sushila lived, disguised himself as a holy man, and convinced her to come with him. He then revealed his true identity and challenged her family to a fight. They fought bravely, and Ranu defeated them all.

As Ranu and Sushila were returning home, they stopped to rest by a river. While Ranu was sleeping, Kalu, the brother of Sushila’s would-be husband, attacked him and wounded him badly. Ranu woke up and fought back, killing Kalu. But his wounds were too deep, and he knew he was going to die.

Ranu told Sushila how sorry he was for making her suffer and asked for her forgiveness. He then asked her to light a funeral pyre and place his head in her lap as she set the pyre on fire. Sushila agreed, and they both died together.

After Ranu’s death, a baby boy was born to Bimla, and they named him Supia Rawat. He grew up to be an even stronger and braver warrior than his father. When he heard the story of his ancestors’ deaths, he was filled with anger and decided to take revenge on the people who had caused so much pain to his family.

Supia first went to the place where Jhankru lived and killed all of his family members. Then he went to the places where his grandfather’s and father’s enemies lived and killed everyone there. Finally, Supia returned home victorious.

When Supia reached home, he went to see his mother, Bimla. He was angry with her for causing so much trouble and wanted to kill her. But his grandmother, Mainawati, stopped him and explained that it was a great sin to kill one’s own mother, no matter how wicked she was. Supia listened to his grandmother and decided not to kill Bimla.

Supia then ruled his land peacefully, and everyone lived happily under his rule.
