Uttarakhand Tableau Wins First Prize at 2023 Republic Day Parade in New Delhi

The Republic Day Parade 2023 has come to a close and the winners of the event have been officially announced. Uttarakhand took home the top prize for their tableau which showcased the state’s rich wildlife and religious sites. Meanwhile, the Army’s Punjab Regiment was declared the best marching contingent among the three services. The Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) marching contingent was also recognized with a top prize among the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and other auxiliary forces.

Uttarakhand’s tableau stood out for its representation of the world-renowned Corbett National Park and its diverse wildlife, including deer, reindeer, and various birds. The central part of the tableau featured the state animal, musk deer, the national bird, peacock, and the ghoral. Jageshwar Dham, a group of ancient temples in the Almora district, and the popular deodar trees were also depicted.

Maharashtra took second place for their tableau, which focused on the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” and “Nari Shakti”. Uttar Pradesh placed third with their showcase of the Ayodhya Deepotsav. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs won the top prize among the participating ministries and departments, while the Central Public Works Department earned a special prize for their tableau on biodiversity conservation and their “Vande Bharatam” dance group.

In addition to the panel of judges, an online poll was conducted on the MyGov platform for citizens to vote for their favorite tableaux and marching contingents. The IAF’s marching contingent was the winner in the popular choice category among the three services. Meanwhile, Gujarat took home first prize in the popular choice category among the states and union territories, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. The tableau by the CAPF and the Ministry of Home Affairs was the top pick in the popular choice segment among the central ministries and departments.

Overall, the Republic Day Parade 2023 was a showcase of India’s rich culture and heritage, with each state and participating organization putting forth their best efforts to represent their respective regions.
