Lucent International School Fraud

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently canceled the Class 12 recognition of Lucent International School in Dehradun due to fraudulent admissions. The school had registered 245 students, but data for 86 students was changed to include students from private coaching institutes who were neither attending the school nor were the original students. As a result, CBSE banned these students from appearing in the 2023 board exams, and the distressed students approached the Commission for Protection of Child Rights to file a case against the school.

The CBSE Regional Officer exposed the fraud, and the commission ordered the school’s management to shift the class 11 students studying in this session to some other school. The commission also ordered the police to file a case against the school, and CBSE canceled the recognition of the school’s 12th class on the basis of forgery, playing with the future of the students.

As a result of the cancellation, Lucent International School can now only teach children up to 10th standard. The CBSE has stated that the 86 students who were barred from the exam will appear in the exam on the orders of the court, and their result will depend on the court’s decision.

This is not the first time that Lucent International School has been involved in such irregularities. An investigation related to admissions irregularities has been ongoing at the level of the Education Department since 2019.

Many coaching centers in Dehradun bring children from other states to study by showing them false dreams. They offer coaching contracts at an expensive fee, along with their 11th and 12th studies. Parents are urged to be cautious and not fall prey to such coaching institutes, where admission is given on the basis of greed.

In the past, CBSE has also canceled the recognition of BDM School Herbertpur for malpractices, and this school can also now only teach up to 10th standard. CBSE has warned that whoever violates their norms and plays with the future of the students will face strict action.
