Champawat Development Initiatives : Champawat district is located in the state of Uttarakhand in northern India. With a population of around 2.5 lakhs, it is one of the smaller districts in the state. However, the district faces several developmental challenges relating to infrastructure, livelihood opportunities, health and education.

The Uttarakhand state government has implemented various schemes and programs aimed at the overall development of Champawat district.   • Mukhya Mantri Pakke Haryali Yojana – This initiative by the Uttarakhand government supports farmers by providing seeds, saplings and biofertilizers for organic vegetable cultivation along slopes, bunds and barren lands during monsoon season.

Electricity Access

  • Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana – Launched in 2017, this scheme aims to achieve universal household electrification in rural areas. Efforts are underway to provide electricity connections to over 150 un-electrified households in Champawat district under this scheme.
  • Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) – This program focuses on strengthening the rural electricity distribution network and providing free electricity connections to rural households below the poverty line.

Skill Development and Employment

  • Mukhya Mantri Swarojgar Yojana – Under this scheme, the state government provides loans and subsidies to youth and self-help groups for setting up income generation units in rural areas. This promotes self-employment in activities like food processing, handicrafts etc. Over 300 individuals have benefited in Champawat district.
  • Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) – DDU-GKY enables rural youth from poor families to get skill training and placement in jobs in growing sectors. Skill training centers have been set up in Champawat district under this scheme.

E-Dashboard ‘Utkarsh’

Jan Manch Portal

This online portal enables common citizens to submit their complaints and grievances regarding government services which are then forwarded to the concerned department. The portal tracks status of complaint redressal. People from Champawat district have also been raising relevant issues through this platform.

Mukhya Mantri e-Nivesh Portal

This online single window portal facilitates and expedites various approvals required from different state departments for establishing new industrial units and businesses. Applicants need to submit all required documents online and can track status.

  • SMS-based services for scheme application and status tracking
  • Electronic transfer of monetary benefits directly into bank accounts of beneficiaries
