Story of Hyunraj Mahara
Story of Hyunraj Mahara : Once upon a time, in a land called Kotligarh, there lived a brave warrior named Hyunraj Mahara. He had six brothers, and they were all part of a powerful and strong family. The Maharas were known for being fierce and using human blood instead of red powder on their foreheads. They worked for the Raja of Champawatgarh, who was a powerful king.
The Raja of Champawatgarh made the Maharas pay many unfair taxes, like giving a part of their money, their goats, and their buffalo milk. Hyunraj Mahara did not like this and decided to stop paying these unfair taxes. This made the Raja very angry, and he ordered Hyunraj to either pay the taxes or leave Kotligarh.
Hyunraj’s mother, Singola, was at home when the Raja’s men came to destroy their land. She sent a message to her sons, Hyunraj and Sejki, who were taking care of their cattle in the forest. They were very upset and decided to fight the Raja’s men. Singola tried to stop them, but they wouldn’t listen.
The two brothers fought bravely and defeated the Raja’s army. They even cut off the heads of Thorchand and Bhagchand, two of the Raja’s brothers, and offered them as a sacrifice to their family goddess, Jhalimali. When the news of Thorchand and Bhagchand’s death reached Champawatgarh, everyone was very sad.
The surviving brothers of Thorchand decided to take revenge on the Maharas. They asked for help from the Belwals, a family of magicians. The Belwals agreed to help and went to Kotligarh, where Singola was at home alone. They tied her up and took her buffaloes, Chandu and Bendu, to offer them as a sacrifice to their goddess.
When Hyunraj and Sejki returned home and saw their mother tied up, they were very angry. They went to Gauri Gujrant, where the Belwals lived, and found Kashi Ram, one of the Belwals, performing magic in a temple. They caught Kashi Ram and killed all the other Belwals, except for Battu and Chandu, who escaped.
Battu and Chandu had a nephew named Hindua. One day, Hindua broke a pitcher belonging to Pingla, the mother of the Maharas. This made the Maharas very angry, and they went to the fields where Battu, Chandu, and Hindua were working. They broke the legs of their bullocks and threw them into a spring.
Battu and Chandu gathered a large army of different groups and fought against the Maharas. But the Maharas were too strong, and they defeated the army. When their mother saw that her sons had been killed, she made them all drink poisoned milk so that they wouldn’t be captured by the Maharas. This made the whole Belwal family disappear.
The Maharas set fire to the houses of the Belwals and returned home as heroes.
