Elephant roaming around people in Kotdwar – Dugadda highway 119.
A video is continuously shared by many people in Uttarakhand, in which an Elephant can be seen on the highway connecting Pauri Garhwal – to Kotdwar. However elephant didn’t attacked or chased anyone in the road and crossed an Ambulance and a Tourist bus from a hand distance.
Elephant in Kotdwar – Dugadda area can be easily spotted. It’s one of a unique experience to watch elephants climbing those mountains in the area.

Some basic guidelines to follow whenever you get in elephant encounter like that:-
- Understand we are on the way of elephant and other Animals found in the area they are not, its better to stay calm around them.
- Stay at least 30-40 meters away from Elephant and in case they reach you stay calm and don’t blow horn in panic.
- If there is calf around, be advised not to move at all or come between mother and calf. Mother is quite protective and aggressive while protecting her calf.
- DO NOT STOP FOR PHOTOGRAPHS !! If you have a chance move quietly and don’t aim your camera towards elephants.
- Stop making fun of Forest Departments Rules.
- Do not ever try to touch or feed Elephants.
